Hill buck

Unread postby cbigbear » Wed Dec 11, 2013 9:12 am

No doubt I owe this one to the beast, thanks fellas. I picked a spot on the map based on hill country tactics learned here & bam he was right where he should have been. He was bedded facing S down a finger ridge with a thicket & N wind to his back.

Nice buck and congrats are in order.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Ok so I was headed to a drain head I had picked out. About 130 yds away from my waypt heading up the first finger ridge I jumped 3 does bedded on a pt. I thought about hunting this drain but decided to head deeper & get just S of a large briar patch on a ridge top. I had just topped the main ridge & was trying to decide how to cross the next steep drain. I caught movement on the next ridge over. It was a 6 pt headed down the ridge. As I was watching him this 8 stood up & then bedded for his final time!!!
