BBD..... Updated with story and pictures.
Will post story and pics when I get home. ln the bush a ways from home.
Finally got home and some time to post a story and the pic of the buck. First picture is my wind indicator I used on this trip. The guy that owned the barn said I could put a wind indicator on a lighting rod on top of his barn. The second photo is me arriving at home today. There is a buck in there you can see some horns in the top left side of the Saturn. One of my friends told me that is as red neck way of transporting a buck as he has ever seen. I never realy thought of it like that.
The buck picture in my shed is red neck, but I got the buck at 4:45 PM yesterday and that is the best I can do (will get some pictures in the back yard tomorrow). I was alone on this trip, packed up and traveled back home today. You may ask how did you get that buck into the back of the Saturn? I used a 2x8 and slid him into the Saturn. I mean I manned him up there with pure grunt.
My season has been more of what has not worked for me this year until yesterday. I tried parallel buck trails, scrapes (I did pass a nice 10 point on a scrape). I almost got a chance at a good 10 point earlier in the season on a bed to food pattern, but the wind did a 180 on me and I got busted before it happened. My corn timber corridor was a bust, the corn was picked early this year (love that pattern). I had great expectations on my water hole but we had a bunch of rain after the drought so that was a bust.
With the rut is in full swing I had to adjust my hunting to rut tactics. I killed this buck in a pinch point. He was behind a doe she ended up right under the tree I was in. She saw me draw back and spooked. The buck was moving and I stuck him in the liver and guts at 20 yards. The doe ran back the way they came and the buck just walked in that direction. He had guts hanging out of one side. He walked away real slow and hunched over. He didn't know what had happened. The only shot I had was straight away (30 yards) so I put an arrow in his rear ham and the arrow passed all the way through the guts, liver, lungs and poked a big hole in his heart. The second shot caused him to bolt after the doe. I could see her but he was not to be seen. He died in full stride made 80 yards and that was it. The lesson here is shoot until you are out of arrows or opportunities.
That infamous smile is there you just have to look at the picture upside down.

You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.
