Still had a doe tag in my pocket and couldn't imagine myself sitting home in Nov so I popped a doe tonight and padded the freezer a bit more.

Thanks PLB and Ed. This doe is also my first public land kill. Small pressured public area, roughly 100 acres, with 3 other hunters in the woods with me. Im proud to be able to make this happen last night. I had alot of doubts while sitting in the stand yesterday, but pulled thru til last minute. Played the wind while the other hunters all were positioned upwind of a bedding area where a big buck is living. I was hoping for the buck, but happy with a mature doe. I was downwind about 10 feet up a tree. I put the shot on her at 10 yards. SO, I guess I can probably say this was my first beast style kill too.

Got another doe today on public land. I was walking out of the woods. She pretty much ran too me after a nub buck was pushing her around. She was 15 yards and the nub buck tried to hump her right there. She wouldnt allow it. I drew back and let the arrow fly after the nub buck got out of the way. perfect shot. Went about 30 yards.

We took Dan's advice and brought a ladder out into the marsh so we could set up in the red willows and cattails. We were having a hard time getting shots at the deer from the ground. We carried that ladder probably 5 miles today before Bryce finally got a shot. We saw 4 does prior to this one but couldn't get lined up quick enough. He made an awesome shot at a running deer in thick brush.
