One interesting note: I was using the 4 blade slick trick broadhead again, because I like how accurately they shoot. And once again, there was no blood trail to speak of. I watched where the deer went, and followed the tracks to where she dropped. It was a quick, clean kill. But to have maybe three drops of blood in 60 yards of snow with a heart shot? Come on. Every time I use those heads I say I'm going to switch because of poor blood trails but never really have yet. Maybe this winter and spring will give me enough time to play around and find a head that's as reliable and straight shooting as the slick tricks but leaves a better bloodtrail.

Re: New Years Eve Doe Down!!!
Good shooting B15. Glad to see you let the new bow eat! Just wondering which slick trick you used. Standard? Magnum? Grizztrick? Surprised you had such little blood on a heart shot. If you prefer fixed I would give the Muzzy MX-3's a shot. They fly great out of my Bowtech and put plenty of blood on the ground

Re: New Years Eve Doe Down!!!
I was using the magnums. Being a heart shot, the broadhead passed through shoulder meat on each side, so blood would have had to go out of the cage and then through the leg meat, but regardless I was still a little surprised.
I will give the mx3s a look. I am also considering a 3 blade expandable. I have more than enough ke with this new bow to feel comfortable with them.

This one was quite a bit of work. I cut out the backstraps and loins after skinning, and my buddies started begging me to finish the next day so we could go out for new years eve. They're like "Dude, we can put the heater on tomorrow and it'll be 70 degrees in here and we can finish it then."
Well, the temperature dropped to -17 F in a couple hours, and the next morning that deer was frozen solid. We had to use a reciprocating saw just to section out the shoulders and quarters so that we could take them home to thaw out and debone
