european mount

I got a small buck and buried the head. How long for the bugs to clean it off?

If you cape the hide off it will take much less time. I think your looking at 6 months minimum.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.
