Taxidermy "woes"

Unread postby muddy » Sun Nov 14, 2010 1:27 pm

Was informed by my better half that even if I shoot a toad during gun season I can't get it put on the wall. I frowned and looked over to find her clutching a fist full of hospital bills from the delivery and the post par tum ER admission. That sucks. I get it and I understand but that doesn't make the pill any easier to swallow. I guess I'll just have to shoot one so big that it will make her realize how awesome it is for wall decoration! :D

Just venting.

No way.... You gotta man up on that one! How much money gets wasted a year going out to eat or on things you really do not need? Deer hunting is your passion. One or two heads should make no difference. At most, I could see putting it off for a little while.
Tell her no more make up or shampoo till the bills are paid!

Times like this resort to, cashing in the piggy bank, collecting aluminum cans and good old begging.

All else fails, nothing wrong with waiting a year in the freezer.

Wow, some responses I really didn't expect.

Typed, deleted, and retyped this response a dozen times already, this is how Ill leave it. I can respect her request as I know how much she has sacrificed over the years to let me hunt. I am very fortunate.

That would be like telling your wife no more coon or skunk adoptions until after the bills are paid.

I like my wife clean and smelling good when we go out to eat.

Sorry Muddy, but I'm with Dan on this one. Sounds to me like you don't have very many hobbies, and hunting is it. My Bride and I have an awesome relationship and she knows that I am always in best interest of the family and their needs. But when it comes to my hunting I will not allow the leash of domestication to yank me around. I love my Bride and she knows it, I love my family and they know it, I love my hunting and everyone knows it. I have enough things taking away from my seasons, don't need contributions from the loved ones. Yes my hand is down my pants, and they just grew enormous in size over this one. Just my .02

this is where the line is crossed between being selfish to yourself or being a man and taking care of the family first and waiting till the time is RIGHT. the cape can be thrown in the freezer for years if it takes that. your being a real man MUDDY good decision and good decisions are always rewarded man

I myself have put off mounting something till the money came in... My money, and my decision.
Carol would never tell me not to get something mounted or what I can spend my money on. And in the same, I do not tell her what she can or has to spend her money on.

I guess my first post didn't say "this year" in it, which is what she meant. The hide could be put in the freezer if I felt it really necessary, but he will have to be 160+ on this to be put on the wall.

Stay home and have some good home cooked meals instead of going out to eat. I rarely go out to eat because I don't trust other people making my food and I hate to wait.
I would much rather put that money into taxidermy and look at it everyday. ;)
