Fresh Euros

Unread postby Kraftd » Wed Oct 28, 2015 1:40 pm

My buck and a good buddies dad's first cross bow buck at 64. Nice thing about little ones is two fit in the pot.

I usually uses the 40% peroxide from the pool store for bleaching. Did the same this time but mushed up a bunch of toilet paper in it this time and made like a paste out of it. Worked really well. This is 9 and 10 for me for deer and one bear skull. Getting a little better every time.

Hung mine in my three year old daughter's room, she has been asking for a while. Four year old will accept nothing less than a full shoulder mount! Time to get back to the woods!

Those look really good! I will try that formula if I get one worth a Euro.

I do them for family too.

Those turned out awesome! I think I'm going to do a couple this coming weekend as well.

The white really makes the euro mount. I took a tip from a friend and just used white paint. I thought it was cheaper and looked good also.Image

If your peroxide or bleach whitens the rack (happens near burrs), just gently wipe on some black walnut stain to those areas and you will never know it happened.

Thanks, Jeff. Same thing for when the boiling discolors the antlers too?

Looks good Dave

How much time between... skinning head, digging out eyes/brains, "simmering" and picking out flesh/goo, and then peroxide

All in an afternoon for me. Then I usually just leave them in the peroxide for about 24-hours and pull them, let them dry for a day in the basement rafters, then straight to the wall. I never end up spraying them or anything, and haven't really had much of an issue with them staining later on. Doing a biggun for a buddy Friday!
