Cleaning Shoulder Mounts
I have some shoulder mounts that are getting some age on them. I want to keep them looking good and not get that faded dried out look. What's a good thing to clean them with?

I' was told by taxi where I'm from to use panty hose, rub with fur grain not against(stating obvious I know) he also had some Hyde paste for fluffed up patches but use very sparingly. Hope that's right?

don't use water. use the spray that they spray horses with to give them a shine when showing. otherwise if you can't find that, use liquid gold. yes, its the same stuff you put on your furniture. every mount we do we wipe the horns down with liquid gold. helps keep them from dry cracking. we put it on a shoe brush and wipe the entire hide down as well. stay away from any painted areas. use window gleaner on a q tip to clean the glass eyes.
the liquid gold also conditions the hair a bit.

Yup that's what my taxidermist told me and been doing it for years. Spray a little on rag and wipe on.

Why did you tell her?
She has cleaned them in the past with furniture polish on a rag. This year she told me it's my job. That's why I posted this to see what was the proper thing to use. Turns out she was right
