Where to have a Euro done near Columbia County?

Unread postby mike_mc » Mon Nov 03, 2014 5:21 pm

Any one have a place they would recommend having a Euro done near Columbia County, WI? I've done it myself, thought that was to much work. Had one done by a local guy, but he seemed a little shady.

I have used three different shops. There is a huge difference. Make sure they ONLY use beetles. No boiling what so ever!!!
The last one I had done is very fragile compared to the two I had done at the beetles only place.
The biggest problem is....he takes a long long time. Like 1 whole year! But it is the only place I'll be going until I see the work of someone that can do it as good.
The shop is "BeetleMyBones" out of St. Cloud, MN.
I have no affiliation, but with my disappointment with other shops, comparatively, I felt the need to speak up.

If they are fragile, that is because they were boiled waaaaay to long. Should only be boiled a little more than 2 hours!

You have to boil them real slow on just enough heat to get the water boiling. I use a single burner Coleman camp stove. It's getting them white that's the hard part. I have used just about everything to bleach them and they never get all that white. Tried painting them and that works well plus it makes them stronger.

I paid 130 with a walnut plaque. The beetles only clean them, you still have to degrease them so they all wind up in a hot water bath. If you boil the water its already too hot to do damage so technically none should be boiled even if they use "boiling" method.

getting off topic here but I boil mine for a couple hours then I pressure wash everything out. It cleans up really nice and take the meat out of all the little crevices. You can blast into the brain stem and it cleans out the brains really good also. But you do get messy and wet.

Jeff, what is the price to do a Euro with you guys?

For the guys that do their own, how much time do you estimate you put into it?
