2013 was a late/cold spring, I saw 4 velvet bucks first week of the season, first time I had ever seen any velvet that late. Can't say that is the case here for sure but I think it might have played a role.

Very nice.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.
