Unresponsive taxidermist

Unread postby Czabs » Sat Sep 07, 2013 12:50 pm

The last two weeks I called my taxidermist twice and left messages both times with my name and number asking him for info on whats going on with my mount. He hasn't responded yet. I'm thinking I'm giving him two weeks and calling him again. He has my rack :? . Its really getting to me and I don't know what to do. Anyone else been in this situation?

Well, with what a mount costs, I'm guessing he is on a Caribbean cruise.

Seriously, he might have had a family or health crisis. I know it's stressing right now, but keep calling......

He could also be out in Colorado elk hunting or on some other hunt. Could have left the shop in the hands of an assistant or someone without the access or sense of ownership for the shop. Unprofessional situation no double, but I wouldn't stress too much at this point. Keep calling once a week or so and if you don't hear back in two weeks stop in.

How many heads does the guy do a yr? If 100s.... just be patient. Instead of calling I would try to swing by during business hrs... if these guys returned progress calls on every buck they were doing ×100-200 heads they would never make any progress. Granted urs was an exceptional public land MONSTER.... I'd say most a yr before I would get too antsy unless he told you different.

Be patient but stay in contact. They are not good communicators but I think it is the nature of the business.

Depends on how good he is. My taxidermist is 1-2 years out, but I know this going into it. What does he say his turn over rate is? Keep on mind that they like to hunt too.

I just keep calling once a week

My head mount took two years if u live in a smaller town usually everyone brings there animals to the same person, and if they do fish too it might be a while, like I said mine took two years but was very pleased with how it turned out!

I'd be patient. If he does a lot of business and sticks to FIFO you might be waiting a while...

Also, did you pay in full already? Its not uncommon to get moved up the priority list if do so.
