Also the foot smell won't help...

I'm guessing so it wouldn't inhibit the stand folding against the platform.

my guess is so it folds flat. there's no knockout in the platform to fit the button thru once folded.

Correct, so the stand can fold up flat.
The old assaults definitely need a second versa.
