Re: Assault 1 for sale.
A bump for Marty. I bought a stand from Marty a few years ago. No worries about getting shafted.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Re: Sold.
Just a suggestion to anyone doing this with there versa button... 1st off realize that putting it on the side makes the stand one dimensional in that the strap has to be put around the tree in one certain direction instead of both. 2nd, the way Zap is showing the button hooked up is incorrect, and could be dangerous. In order to use it like this the 1st strap would need to wrap around the post so the pressure is on the post not on the plastic button...
I know at one point Andrae tested side load on the versa buttons and the results were not pretty. When alterations like that are done, sometimes you make a critical mistake... Stands made commercially should go thru testing both with computer loads and real loads prior to sale. Even when making stands we make mistakes. I just made a proto stand for Andrae that looked awesome. But in testing it failed a certain type of load. I don't think the average guy would catch something like that. I had a veteran Engineer go over my design and he did not catch it. And I have been tinkering with this stuff for decades... The only one who caught it before it was tested was Andrae.

Re: Sold.
The way the strap is on the button the pressure is on the post pulling force is toward the tubing.
By putting the first strap around the tree the second loop pulls it tight to the tubing.
If you look at the picture there is no pressure on the button.
The second button is to keep the bottom of the stand from kicking out, not to hold the stand to the tree.

Re: Sold.
Zap, my mistake... I thought that was the upper button. I never use the lower one so I did not even think about it being the lower... As long as the top button faces forward that should be fine.

Re: Sold.
Its all good, Dan.
The older assaults have a very small V notch and like to kick out.
The top button was left stock.
Thanks for watching out for us!
