Are these a good conibear trap?
Is there a better one?

Thanks.

Is the 330 magnum better than a 330?

Dukes a good trap. I don't think those are legal to set on land. What will they be for?

I don't know what the magnum is. Stronger spring maybe? Do you have the tool to compress the spring?

Dukes are good traps, not the best, but they get the job done. Most hardcore trappers run Belisle traps. I run Bridger traps as they seem a little more robust than the Dukes.

You'll want a setter for these large conibears and be careful...there is some serious force behind the 300, 330s

X2 plus be real careful setting on land.
If a dog or any non-target gets caught it's all over!!

Zap,

If you get a coyote in a 330, you will be a living legend. I don't know the laws in your states, but in MOST states a #220 is the largest you can use on land. I actually prefer a #280 for water otter sets. IMO, a #330 regular jaw is just fine. The magnum is nice, but not necessary.

In Kansas the only reg on body grips is that if they are in water they need to be at least 8".

Was not really thinking of 330 for coyote.
But a 1216 might work under a b wire fence....

That is a good video Zap. Those Belisle traps look great.

The video is very convincing. I definitely like the safety latches more on the belisles and the gap is noticeable. But, if you are using a safety, it doesnt matter as much about the latches. I am not "Mr. Bigtime" trapper but, I have not had any noticeable fur damage from my duke coni's in the 3 years I've been trapping. Congrats on your first yoter!!!

RK makes some good safety latches that will fit any body grip.

Some folks say that a 330 that does not close all the way is better since the beaver is either dead or can get away.
No attention drawn to the set by a foot or tail caught beaver.

Thanks on the coyote....
