I like looking for thick, brushy areas in the woods where there is evidence of deer browsing over the winter. A lot of times this thick cover helps in the shedding process.

Re: Where do you find the most shed antlers???
I've usually just stumbled across them in the woods I have yet to find a pattern. The ones I found in the northwoods were areas that could be considered wintering areas I guess in a stand of jack pines that provide cover and protection from wind for a lot of deer. I found one just last week on a 73acre piece of land I got permission to hunt I scouted every inch of the place looking for sign and what not and only found one small shed. Basically I'm no good at shed hunting!

I have found 99.9% of my sheds on the ground.
And I don't treat my sheds with the indignity of the garage, they're in the heated utility room downstairs!

I was gonna say maybe I should look in Muddy's garage, but if he doesn't keep them there than I....on second though I might as well look there the way my luck has gone this year can't be any worse When I do find 'em combination woods and field (food source) In the woods its usually bedding close to food sources. Advise for newbies is walk, walk, walk and when you get tired and sick of looking walk some more

Re: Where do you find the most shed antlers???
I have never found a shed but I just found a great spot to start looking just not sure how to start. It is a wintering area and there is not really a set food source other than some cedars, I was thinking I would start by following the best trails and then hit the bedding. The woods surrounding the swamp are just loaded with deer sign, me and the girlfriend were out there yesturday and seen 8 deer in one spot feeding in the hard woods. so I will probably just walk the edge of the swamp after checking the bedding area and continue to do this until I cover the whole property.

Re: Where do you find the most shed antlers???
The best place to look for sheds is where the deer were yarded up through the winter. It is very easy to see where to start looking, follow the food source back to where the deer were bedding and you'll find antlers. Lots of tracks and lots of deer crap will be present in the areas to look. If you are looking in your favorite hunting spots and don't see a lot of deer sign you'll not find a lot of sheds. You must cover the most ground you can and cover it good. lots of looking is what it takes.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

An addition to my previous post. This would be what you are looking for prior to looking for sheds. Areas like this will produce drops you just have to look for them and look hard.
