Re: 3/3/11 Ohio Sheds!
I should probably post a google map picture of the lay of the land to give you guys an idea of how smart this ole buck is on his choice of a core area but that probably wouldn't be a great idea! LOL! Especially since a certain pm I got a while back.. LOL! Seriously, this is pretty open farm country and this guy is hanging out where he can see vehicles pulling in from a 1/2 mile away and my only thoughts are along the lines of getting in there under full darkness and/or walking a mile & a half across fields and a road to get there so he won't see any vehicle coming and hoping he doesn't see me or smell me on the last part of the approach for an afternoon/evening hunt. I think if I get in there and get a stand set up, then it will get down to hoping that I don't bump into him in the dark and/or on a decent cross wind approach where I can use a fence line to be less obvious on the last 1/2 mile. And seriously, part of the problem is that he's hanging out right at the juncture of 3 farms and bedding on one that is a smaller farm, absolutely no hunting, where the landowners house is uphill and within a half mile/visible to the juncture... the buck can escape via a drainage, high weed field, fence rows and/or out across wide open fields.. the bulk of the wide tree lined drainage is also off the farm I have permission on but the good news is that he likes to come out on the back side of the farm I have permission on where he's away from & out of site of the roads/houses. He worked a whole area with rubs & scrapes back in there last year but I didn't see it until after I had filled my buck tag and as previously noted in another post, I agreed with the land owner to take a cull buck last year.
