My dog found his first shed!
Went out looking for some horns today near the house. I'm not a real good shed hunter because I usually pay way to much attention to the deer sign and don't look for the horns. So I was trying to take a picture of this really high rub and wanted my dog to sit in the picture as a reference to the rub height. He wouldn't stay and kept going over by this bush about 10 feet away everytime I wanted to snap a picture. So after getting pissed that he wouldn't stay I looked over to see what the heck was so important to him, I noticed a browtine through the bush. I walked over their and he was just trying to pick up his shed. Boy did I feel like a jerk for yelling at him.
Here's the rub I wanted to take a picture of.
Last years shed
If the shed didn't fall in the bush it would of been in about 1 1/2 feet of water
4 finger slob tracks in bed
Fresh scrap and rub from yesterday

That is awesome, I would love to have a shed dog, if just to have a scouting buddy!
God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Re: My dog found his first shed!
I think he just saw it, Last year I found one in a bed that he was standing in and he never knew it was their. But I wouldn't have found this one unless he did. Sorry I thought I put this in the shed antler forum.

Most of the sheds here in MN farm country get ate up pretty quick all the rodents and vermens must be lacking calcium cause the get hammered fast. I,ve only found 1 shed from a previos year.

The sheds we find in the swamps and marshes can be several years old, but they get eaten up on the dry land.
