Re: Still holding
I saw a nice 8 point holding yesterday as well, there were 3 other bucks with him and he was the only one with headgear left on.

Re: Still holding
I think this is normal I never start thinking about going antler looking until the 15th of March. It's almost go time.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Interesting. I remember late April I saw a buck with antlers still on last year. Older buck.

Re: Still holding
I too have a buck showing up my house, a small six. He lost only the one side almost a month and a half ago, while the bigger bucks still had full racks. My son found one shed two weeks ago and we have now seen many now with their complete sets gone, yet the small six still has half a rack on. I have seen some real big bucks in the past with racks as late as April too. Racks are so interesting how fast they grow and how it seems no rhyme or reason when they fall off.

Re: Still holding
One year I saw a yearling half rack while turkey hunting...April 17th I believe. Thats not normal though, maybe there was a hormonal issue there.
This winter I think 95% dropped by the end of January around here though....

Re: Still holding
Most of the bucks I've been watching have been without antlers for over month now with only a few exceptions but the snow has kept me at bay as far as looking for sheds. Hate walking the same spots multiple times so have just been scouting new areas until the snow melts off in the woods a bit more.
