Shed Poachers?
Do you guys run into any problems with guys trespassing on your land, looking for sheds? Last year I found some human tracks in the snow on my land. I'm guessing they were looking for sheds. This year I'm putting cam's out from now until April or so.... Just wondering if anyone else has problems with guys looking for sheds on your land?

I don't but a friend of mine has a farm where the deer yard up and he always has problems with trespassers. They always seem to think it is okay if they aren't hunting.

I think it is a huge problem. Friend of mine set up cameras and sure enough more than once had guys looking. Guys must think it is ok to trespass looking for antlers.

Re: Shed Poachers?
If you have a good one or big number there- ABSOLUTELY. This is a big deal in urban areas around here as there are some monsters- guys are sneaking, baiting, etc..... anything to get them

It's gotten pretty bad. I used to love going out with the sole purpose of "shed hunting." I would get all excited just to find out someone has come in and trespassed to find my sheds. Anymore, I just focus on finding the sign to kill the buck with the antlers still intact. I still find them but I enjoy looking for Big Buck sign on deer that I can actually hunt.

Re: Shed Poachers?
that's really a bummer. I had always wanted to get my own little chunk of land to hunt but because of issues like these, I decide to wait till I would be able to live on it too. I can't imagine paying big money for something and not be able to enjoy it because rotten poachers would make me mad. I don't understand what goes through some peoples heads. I hope you catch them.

I'm not sure baiting is legal where he hunts.

Re: Shed Poachers?
I leave a lot of old sheds in the woods. I leave average sized obvious antlers out in early February if I know I am coming back, they are never there... probably less than 20% of the time. I see lots of guys in the woods and for every guy I find I see 10 sets of bootprints. All you can do is walk often and cover ground, public access land is limited here so I try to beat others to the obvious big ones and then I really huff it for the tough ones. My private spots get hit too but that's just life, there is so little ground here and so many people that you just got to do your best to stay ahead of the game and sometimes, deal with what you got.
