Found the match....4 years later

Unread postby BigHills BuckHunter » Mon Apr 01, 2013 11:09 am

Found 3 good sheds this morning and later this afternoon wanted to go out again for an hour or so and found 3 sheds.

I ended up finding a shed that had 6 points and found out its a match set from another side we found 4 years ago. We had one really good trail cam pic of this buck and the next year my friend killed him and had him mounted.

The big shed with the short tines is kinda funny IMO. My dad shot a buck with his bow and had this guy come in 10 minutes later and had him at 7 yards. My dad thought due to his large body he was 4.5 yr old plus. Not the greatest genes.

Nice finds!

Do you not have squirrels? Sheds here get chewed up fast.

Cool! Good job man. Where was it in reference to where you found the first one? How far apart?

I called my friend about it and we tried to figure out how it lasted 4 years without being chewed on. There isnt a single mark on it. We have a lot of squirells and mice too. Our only idea is that is was covered in CRP grass surrounded by fields and maybe the squirels didnt find it buried in the grass. The shed has crack marks on it since its been in the sun for so long.

I walked right past that shed for 4 years and never saw it! I think since it was buried in the CRP grass so well I must have just walked right past it. Im still in shock about it all. I never thought you could find a match more than 2 years later let alone 4.

My grandma found the first shed while she was looking for arrowheads with my dad 4 years ago. The shed got plowed under and she saw two tines sticking out of the dirt in the field so she called my dad over and he pulled it out. Cool story in itself.

This shed was about 75 yards away from where my grandma found the other side 4 years ago.

Cool.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.
