I went out to where I look for sheds to see how much of the snow melted and MAYBE see a buck with antlers on still. I was in the car looking with the binoculars and saw a big bodied deer and thought I saw one antler on.
I drove up closer and saw he had both sides on, it was a buck that I last saw on August 8th last summer in velvet. He is a BIG 5 pointer. Probobly 7-8 inch brow tines. Very unique buck. His antlers were literally snow white. He had an old buck with him Im assuming. Big body and one of the whitest faces Ive seen on a deer but no antlers on.
Hope to find those sheds and the other guys.

Thats intresting,. i was just going to start a post on who has seen any antlered bucks yet. The kids are on spring break this week and I have Friday off. We are planning on hitting it pretty hard to see what we can find. I would think that close to all bucks are shed by now. But, obviously there are a few still holding antlers.

I have seen quite a few over the years still carrying April 1st. One sure tell is when you find drops in areas that you covered real good earlier.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

I was talking with Andrae a couple days ago on the phone while he was out glassing his farm from the truck... He said he has a few good bucks still carrying antlers... Stressed bucks drop early. Bucks still holding should be a sign that your heard is healthy.
