I fill a box with birch bark and throw it in the shed every year. Nature's gasoline right there. A lot of the times the wood is rotted out and you can just pick up a cylinder of bark. I use a small strips to light any fire, but most commonly the charcoal in the chimeny starter. It gets hot faster with birch than with any cardboard or newspaper.
It's not a problem, it's a opportunity for a solution.

Good tip bighunt, I never realized it could do that. I hope I never need to use that knowledge, but it is good to have it in the back of my mind just in case.

Another quick fire technique is a 9 volt battery and steel wool. Find some dry kindling, touch the steel wool with the battery connectors and it heats up fast and literally burns instantly.
