Sad day

I had to say goodbye to my best hunting buddy in the whole world this past friday. He was an awesome duck and goose dog,and a perfect gentle pet. He loved our kids as much as we do. He was 12 and a half. He had been limping on his right front foot for quite awhile now and you could see his hips failing. We got home friday and knew he was in trouble. He was breathing hard and couldnt stand up without help. I carried him outside to go poddy and he wouldnt go. I didnt even know my wife took this pic till today. This is a few hours before the vet came over and said his heart and lungs were good for his age, but his bladder was huge, and he couldnt go on his own. He was in so much pain but was being so strong for us. I hope i made the right decision,i miss him terribly. funny how a dog can become such a big part of your life. Al gave him a seditive and he fell asleep in my hands and started snoring like he always does. then he administered the other drug. No cold unfamiliar vet office just peacefully at home. Ill miss you buddy.

Man that's rough but you did the right thing. That's a good looking dog! Even though you will feel uneasy about the situation I'm sure he is thankful to be out of the pain and at rest. You did the right thing but I'm sorry for your loss!

I am very sorry to hear about your loss U.P. MAN. You absolutely did the right thing. Too many people can't let go and their pet pays the price with a lot of suffering so don't doubt your decision man. You did what was best for him and that is what he deserved. The way it ended was a wonderful way for him to go. Every animal should be so lucky to go that way. He was a truly blessed dog. I don't think he would have wanted to go any other way. The worst thing about dogs is their lives are to short.

Its amazing how being on the beast can take your mind off of things. Now i realize that a person didnt die here, but it sure still hurts. the kids are doing better than my wife and I :D
