As a follow up, I have confirmed, as suggested, through the use of the trail cams, that hen turkeys and their chicks do not return to the nest after hatching. For the record, 10 of the 12 eggs were hatched. I will do my best to ensure that she has a place to nest next year.

That was really cool and you got it from start to finished. Amazing birds. Amazing your dog didn't find the nest either in the one picture. Have you seen the hen around at all lately?

Really enjoyed the pics and videos. Thanks for sharing.

We have a good mix of turkeys that visit our backyard bird feeders, including three hens and three jakes that like to run together.

The chicks have not been spotted yet, but I am anxious to see them if/when they hit the feeders.

Glad you enjoyed it Stanley. I really had fun during the entire process, and hope to get the opportunity to do it again next year. I hear that hen ducks will often choose the same nesting location from year to year, but I don't know about turkeys. We shall see...
