Looking good there Ed.

That is awesome. Years ago when I would try to hunt grouse in Michigan with my friend Craig, when we finally got a flush we would look at each other and say, you know you are supposed to shoot them.

The fabulous Thunder Bird along with the close flushing Timberdoodle can certainly scare the ba-jesus out of you at times...

One of my all time close flushes on a Timberdoodle was crawling through some thick nasty bushes and when I bent down on one knee
to crouch under a bush had one take off inches from my face and gave me dry eye with its wing - no joke!

Craig had a brittany-Chloe. Craig was from Buffalo, and I from outside St. Louis. We both moved to MI in 1990. We became friends through work in early 90s and ended up living 6 miles away for several years. Craig was more of a bird hunter and me more deer, but we still hunted a lot together.

On or around the last day of season Craig liked to take me and Chloe for a walk in a certain part of Highland Rec Area. We would usually flush one grouse. The last time we hunted there Craig shot the grouse. We always acted like there was only one. So when he shot it, we said what are we going to do next year. Not long after Craig and his family moved back to Buffalo.

His wife sent me that pic a couple years ago it is one of my most cherished.

Thanks for putting up. Craig is the one holding the grouse and the dog. That has got to be about 10 yrs ago.

You are going to get me looking through my old college box, had a few tailgate pics of some pheasant limits from Champaign county Illinois on my elcamino. But that may take a bit longer than it has taken to get my Cranberry lake and Squam lake pics up ;)

Two years ago I was looking for morels and I flipped over this large piece of bark. Imagine my surprise when a grouse came out from under it. They sit pretty tight.
