Went out for 2 hours this morning ran into a 3 foot Kingsnake then went 200 yards and walked up on a small cottonmouth laying by a log along a buck trail about 2 foot long. The cottonmouth is no longer with us. Was very lucky to see it before stepping on it blended very well into the leaves. Dark brown camo patterns hard to spot.

Sometimes I hate the south the snakes ticks mosquitos are just everywhere. The 410 has had alot of action this week. One would think I would eventually get used to snakes in 31 years still hasn't happened.

Not sure if its breeding season or what the snakes have been all over hit several with the car also.

Rarely have any snake encounters scouting post season. During the fall isn’t too terrible either. Noodling season is the big kahuna and it’s right around the corner. 8-)

Snakes get a bad wrap because they are hard to see and avoid I think. Bears can be deadly too but people don’t hate because they can see them a long ways off. Secondly, the whole parable about Adam and Eve and the apple doesn’t help matters.
"One of the chief attractions of the life of the wilderness is its rugged and stalwart democracy; there every man stands for what he actually is and can show himself to be." — Theodore Roosevelt, 1893
