Cat tracks?
The hand next to the print is my wife’s, she’s 5’9”, if that helps for comparison.
If it wasn’t for the claw on the left toe I’d say cat for sure. We had our 48 lb dog (his paws were half the size) with us and we could see his nails in every one of his prints in the same sand without doubt.
This is in central Iowa.

Re: Cat tracks?
I think it may be canine.
If you look at the pad the bottom line of the pad looks to have only two “lobes” which would indicate canine. A feline has three lobes across the bottom (heel) of the pad.
Are there other tracks?
If it is a feline it is one big cat!

Looks like you have some hunting company in the area.

Re: Cat tracks?
Thanks for the replies everyone! Those confirmed tracks that Dewey posted sure look the same to me. After talking to a guy at work who lives in that area it sounds like there’s been several sightings throughout the years.
For anybody wondering we were walking the middle river in Pammel State Park. It was our first time there, pretty cool area if you have kids that enjoy walking and swimming small rivers.
