Cougar in SE WI
Just saw on the news a cougar was spotted in Washington County. Likely the same one that was in my area about a month ago.
Here is a trail cam pic when it was up here near Rosendale in early January.
A short time later it moved SE and left tracks just north of my place.
This was on the news today. Looks like it’s headed to more populated areas and got caught on a surveillance camera.

Not unusual and we seem to get a few every year. They claim they are coming from South Dakota but not sure I believe that.

At least they acknowledge they are in the area these days. Years ago they wouldn't admit it to the public.

Thats pretty cool, I would love to see one. I always hear the ones that travel through southern MN are young males wondering out looking for new territory. Most likely from the Dakotas

Re: Cougar in SE WI
we have a few here in Massachusetts
my sons and myself one early evening spotted a young one with still it's spots crossing a road a few away
we also have one behind our house we only saw the prints
when asking our Fish and Game Dept there response unlikely
funny thing one of the Wardens we know supervised the release of a couple breeding pairs in the Quabbin area
I guess if they admit what they did the people here would freak out

It should never be hungry , just walk down the road and eat all the road kill in the world down there. Went by it today and never saw so many deer tracks in the fields.

Re: Cougar in SE WI
I was wondering if it was the same one that was sighted about a month ago too. No need to worry then. It's not a mountain lion it just a big house cat! LOL!

No claw marks so they're cat tracks for sure. Too large for a bobcat or even lynx. Size looks like it's from a young cougar. More than likely a young tom, since they are more prone to roam.
Wouldn't surprise me if the UP, northern Minnesota and northern Wisconsin had a few breeding pairs.
Happiness is a large gutpile!!!!!!!
