Wy mule deer

Anyone rifle hunted eastern wy mule deer? Thinking about taking my oldest son deer hunting before he graduates. Was thinking a prairie or breaks hunt. He has four ppl

Buddy goes every year and selectively score...
He say there is a good amount of whitetail too, got a double brow tined 13 pointer about 5 years back...

You need to check on the winter kill - they've been losing some critters this year in some areas. It could impact the number of hunters changing from hunting those areas to the spots with less winter kill.

4 pts and a special draw might-could be a good thing.

How far east are you talking? We bow hunt the bighorns but have had to head east to gun hunt depending on snow. Check your regions draw results; many can get a general tag at the "special" price with no points every year.

IMO, I wouldn't use 4 pp on a general tag in eastern WY. Do you have points? Will you be hunting too and averaging points with him?

Season dates vary with some starting in early Oct. and some in Nov.

Yes I have points but don't plan to get a tag
