KY Elk Lottery

Is anyone putting in for an elk tag this year. I put in for the archery bull and archery cow tags. Here are the officail odds based off last years applications:

RESIDENT

FIREARM BULL 1 IN 151
FIREARM COW 1 IN 30
ARCHERY BULL 1 IN 79
ARCHERY COW 1 IN 13

NONRESIDENT

FIREARM BULL 1 IN 702
FIREARM COW 1 IN 98
ARCHERY BULL 1 IN 558
ARCHERY BULL 1 IN 67

Yup, great elk opportunity if you get drawn. I put in for the archery bull and cow too.

Just got a postcard and email, thanks for the reminder here as well.

Application deadline is April 30, 2013. You can apply for up to two of the categories blizzardhunter noted, $10 per entry.

We have a very good elk population in a 16 county area where they were reintroduced.

Nope, did not get drawn this year. I think if you don't get drawn you gain preference points though. Still to apply for ten years in only $100, compared to an elk tag out west it is still very inexpensive. I think the actual tag is under $300 for out of state and I believe it may include a whitetail tag.

The great state of KY does not do preference points

Hey Blizzard,

If I got drawn one of these years, are these Elk on Public land or do you have to hunt private land to hunt them?
