DIY Arizona Elk, Pronghorn, Mule Deer, Javelina!!

Unread postby Czabs » Mon Dec 03, 2012 5:40 pm

My dad recently moved down to Arizona. I'm already thinking about all the species of animals I could stalk down, hunt, and kill when I go see him! I'm pretty excited.

I would really love to get on an elk but I heard that was tough getting a non resident tag with the lottery they have. I have to look into how hard it is for a resident to get a tag because I would love to go film my dad shoot one even if its with the rifle! I heard there is trophies in northern AZ.

This is gonna be a lot of researching and all new to me. I have never hunted anything besides wild boar in Oklahoma and of course Whitetails in WI. I can't wait to dive into this.

If anyone has been to AZ and hunted anything feel free to chime in and let me know how it went. I would love to hear it all! Any tips, advice, anything! Thanks.

My buddy I hunt with live in AZ for 4 years. He hunted elk and mulies every year. I'll ask him for some areas to start looking at for you. Tought thing about AZ is (if I remember right) you have to pay full price for the tag when applying, and if you dont draw they refund it to you then. So they hold onto your money for 4-5 months. And I think AZ is a no-preference point state, all lottery. So your chances are as good as someone who has been trying for 14 years! Good luck, my buddy always had tons of scouting pics/videos of monster bucks/bulls, and him and his dad tagged a few.

the hardest part about Arizona is drawing a tag. last year they had to draw set up that you did not have to pay upfront.

Residents go through the lottery as well for the most part.. For the best units the draw odds are long for residents as well.
