Are moose dumb? or just blind?

I will start out by saying it is my dream hunt to go on a guided Yukon moose, so please dont think I am knocking moose hunting.

Every time i watch a moose hunt I am amazed at the tactics they use to trick a bull into coming in bow range. Wooden paddles being waved around and banging into branches. Just watched a Cabelas video and the guy had a huge stuft animal looking cow moose as a decoy, it brought a huge bull right in.

I have always been curious. All other hoofed game, Whitetails, Mulies, Elk, Caribou are all ver inteligent warry animals so my though process was that these guys in the videos are playing the wind and moose have poop vision....is that a proper assumption? Or are they just not very smart?

It sure does appear that their vision must suck. I have seen a lot of Archers Choice episodes where they either use a canoe paddle or scapula to sneak up to them and shoot them at practically point blank range. With that said, I still want to hunt one someday!

Poor eyesight and like Zap said not afraid of anything. My buddy shot a big moose in the Yukon a few years ago just north of 60" wide. A bear tried take the cape back at camp and his Hunting partner got the bear.
