Those look awesome! There's nothing like a smallie busting out of cover and blasting a popper. Man, I need to go fishing!

Bass on the fly rod is so darn fun it should be illegal! Here are a few shots from recent outings.
My weapons of mass destruction (PBR, cheap fly rods, and a leaky canoe  ):

Smallies on the WI River. This, in my opinion, is fly fishing at its best....just wish we could've gotten them to take some surface flies. But they will as the summer progresses.

These river fish fight like they're twice their size. This one made three jumps and felt like a 24-incher.

I'd love to do a fly swap on here if anybody is interested.

In Eagle River on the little lake my inlaws have a cottage on, smallie action is a force to be reckoned with. When you tie into a good one out there, it's a GOOD ONE. Couldn't say how many 20-22" smallmouth we catch every year out of there, but it's more than a few... Pound for pound, a great fish to fight, and to catch one over 20, well, that's something to write home about.

Wish I had seen her when she was full of eggs, but I'm no cherry picker.

Here's one from the weekend - don't mind my estranged look, I just woke up a mere 5 minutes before I woddled down to the boat, shoved off and nailed this post spawn girl on the 1st cast of the new day.

That's about as good as it gets, Sam. Look at the color on that bronzie.
