Been getting a few fish

Unread postby Uncle Lou » Mon Jan 28, 2013 12:11 pm

After I hijacked Schultzty's thread thought I would start this one. Kyle (12 yr. old neighbor and fishing fool) and I put some bluegills on the ice this weekend. Cut some holes right off my dock which I rarely do, but we went dead on the main lake. Then yesterday me and neighbor Ron, and Kyle, placed a shanty. I broke it in this morning spearing a small pike. Then Kyle and I spent a couple hours cleaning our bluegills, and a few crappies.

The shanty on my way back this morning

The little pike in the sled that got in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Then Ellie came and sat with me for a while and I made her pose with the pike

Then Kyle and I went back out after cleaning a 5 gallon bucket and sat in the shanty, here is a whole shot of our live decoy

Kyle is addicted. School cancelled today and he called me. We went out and had one nice pike cruise right through on us. Water was really murky. I had to come in because Ellie is off too, but I don't think dynomite would get him out of that shack for a while.

What's that live decoy? And how big is that hole?
A buck will see you three times, and hear you twice, but he's only gonna smell you once.

Cool.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Yes live decoy. Not certain of length but probably 12" +/-. And that hole is huge, can set a person (actually two on each side of it and look under opposite ways as well). Didn't measure the hole size either, but I made certain Kyle let his parents know it was big enough to fall into before I would leave him there alone. I sat with him again last night nothing but a blue gilll came through.

my bad now I see an ice fishing thread

I've stuffed more fish in her hands for pics, hope she doesn't get tired of it.

yesterday school was cancelled (messed up my plans to ice fish, oh well). So I took Ellie to town to pick up her paint for her bedroom. Instead of wait for them to mix it, I took her to the china buffet across the road(she loves that place becuase she loves their ice cream machine). As we got back home I told her that we did her stuff this morning, would she go set with me in the shanty, she agreed, but wasn't thrilled. As we pulled in Mom was just getting home so she stiffed me. I guess my point is, my little out door partner is fading on me a little. But Kyle is picking up the slack.

But at least we meant well Schultzy.

The kids had another day off school. Ellie and her almost sister next door Hannah were home when I returned from a Detroit/Toledo run. It was raining and about 50 + degrees, I walked in and said lets go to the shanty and they said okay.

We started walking across the lake and it was slicker than goose pooh in a tin slide. I turned us around after they both slipped, not worth it today. Too bad I almost had them both looking in the big aquarium.
