We weren't doing very well on the crappie this year on our lake. So Randy blazed a trail and headed back to the 4th lake a few weeks back. He hauled two limits out before I joined him last weekend.
We got on them pretty good. Hauled home about 40 10-inchers. We aren't getting anything above 12" but they will do just fine at our annual fish fry.
Here is Ellie with one of the bigger ones.
Today we acted like a couple 20 yr olds (our combined age is 99) and portaged through the swamp to a fifth lake. The fishing wasnt as good but the adventure was worth it. We let go more short fish than we kept, but learned a bit about the lay of the swamp. Of course we had no interest in deer, saw four does by the way busting through. This is the first time we ever pulled a canoe through to this lake. The highlight besides new scenery and some swamp intel was when Randy was bringing in a crappie, and a 20 inch bass exploded on it right at the boat, he had them both for a bit, pretty cool.
Here are a couple swamp pics

Looks like a great time Uncle Lou! Nothing beats an adventure in the wild where few others go.

That's awesome Lou. Looks like a lot of fun! Another reason I should seriously think about getting a sportspal canoe like Scott has.
You cannot invade mainland America. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass.
