I hit the SagBay today for a scouting trip for tomorrow, as my brother in law will be tagging along. Light and variable winds, which means... BUGS... countless millions of bugs hatching on the bay water. Thousands on my boat, trying to fly up the nose and mouth... I have headnets but only use them when I go bonkers. Usually the walleyes gorge and it ends up being tough fishing, as well. Today was no exception-
After arriving and scouting around the area offshore I have done so well in as of late, I only managed to land one walleye... the hunt was on. I have taken hundreds of walleyes in the shallows this spring, could it work one more time? Fortunately for me it did, and I punched a ticket... hopefully this scouting for tomorrow pays off.

Re: Walleye / Bugs
Gnats can be a nuisance that is for sure.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.
