5/30/12 Walleye

Unread postby Singing Bridge » Thu May 31, 2012 6:14 am

Decided to hit Saginaw Bay this morning, and quickly found myself in 3 and 4 foot waves... Everyone is working today so I was fishing by myself. Setting lines, controlling the boat and netting fish proved to be a ton of fun adventure. 3 and 4 footers is quite a bit for my little 16 footer...

I managed a limit of walleye in just under two hours and was glad to get back to dry ground. Great adventure on the Great Lakes:

I'd say you did ok.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Wow, those are some tough conditions for one guy. Is it an aluminum boat?

I'm telling ya Bridge, one of these days I'm going to look you up and there will be someone knocking on your door come dinner time (after one of your walleye trips). Nice work out on the lake. You have some really good eating there for sure!

Yes, a Smokercraft Stinger aluminum. I never complain about having to eat walleye.

That usually makes it even tougher since aluminum boats are generally lighter, but the stinger is no light weight. They are nice boats. I almost bought a SmokerCraft several years back.

This little tub has done its job over the last few years, with over a thousand walleyes coming to net... I sure cant complain. That total includes undersized fish and walleyes I released. I am totally weather dependant though, with backup spots inland for those stretches of bad weather. One thing I like about the boat is its a great size for rivers and inland lakes, as well as being simple to trailer and launch by myself.
