Unread postby dasshirk » Tue Feb 06, 2018 7:28 am

I know they are out there, but I'm struggling getting eyes on a coyote here in IA on public land, any advice?

Are you useing a locator sound (siren) to make sure they are on that on that piece of ground. Their territory is rather large and move a round a bit depending on the food they eat supplys.

Mateing season is close so a female calling for. amale would be a good sound to use also.

I have found it is farily easy to get permission to hunt private land for varmints.

I don't have any advice to give other than to say good luck. I am going to try my hand coyote hunting on public land this week for the first time. I'll be using a rabbit in distress call.

Have always valued ther 1/2 hour before sun rise and the 1/2 hour before sun set.
We always leave about 15 minutes at the end to wait out any late arriveing coyotes.

If you carry strong enough lights I suppose you could call right to pitch dark.
We how keep our gear to a minum due to weight so don't carry lights.

If you hunt deep snow you know to keep your weight down and not carry junk.
