Bobcat Bowkill

Unread postby buck_junkie » Wed Dec 15, 2010 2:36 am

While hunting a Split G2 buck behind my house, I caught a glimpse of something moving in the brush. I quickly reached for my bow as a bobcat dashed out from the brush at about 34 yards. I put my second pin on him and nailed him. He ran about 200 yards and found him on a the face of a cliff. He weighed approximatley 30 pounds and is my first bobcat kill.

Way cool. 8-) I haven't seen many bobcats out in the daylight. Very rare for me to see one.

Congrats.

He's going to the stuffer's this weekend. I have 3 forms picked out...can't decide among a laying position all stretched out, that's my #1, perched on a limb, or a walking position packing a quail from a successful hunt. Didn't know that taxidermists prefer that animal not field dressed. I made about a 4" incision in it's abdomen and removed what I thought I needed to. Washed off all the blood and brushed his fur and froze him. Guess I'll find out if my mistake decides the pose.
