Now that we can hunt coyote year round, what is the best time of year for highest response to calling? Still winter time?
When would the fur be the best condition? Also winter time?

Yeah im on the dnr email list. Got the email tuesday about it. I've tried calling in winter with minimal success. I've actually have called more coyotes in during Turkey season than winter. I've heard summer is a good time to call never tried it tho.

Seems like fawning season could be really good odds, but just speculating.

Now is an ideal time as pups will be needing food and paving the den themselves in the next few weeks.

Mimic their food source. So rabbits year round. Fawn in distress in spring.etc. coyote vocals like coyote pup in distress or female challenge howl I like to mix in any season near the end of my calling sequence. U think of it as a hail Mary. .if they ain't coming in on rabbit distress or fawn etc I throw out a female challenge to play to how yotes are territorial if that don't work I end the set with pup in distress...I call sparingly and sit and wait mostly..I'm in Ontario so I imagine Michigan would see this work as well...great to see they opened it up year round
