I was out hunting the late WI antlerless season and found this track in a field. Not the greatest picture but it was the best I could find. Seemed big for a dog but likely what it is based on the area. Thoughts?

X2
I always tell people if it looks like a St Bernard walked thru it's likely a wolf. If you see one you will know it right away. They are huge on an adult wolf.

Re: track
Good to know. There was a wolf harvested not horribly far from the property so it wouldn't surprise me to find one. Seemed big for coyote and didn't see human tracks accompanying the tracks. I just have never seen a wolf so thought I would ask.

Re: track
Just looked up what Tom Brown lists for wolf track average adult size. 4 1/4" long by 4" wide.
I've personally seen 2 different set of wolf tracks that were about 5" long by 4 1/2" wide.
I once cut 5 different wolf tracks that were probably from the same pack. The largest was the large size I quoted above. The smallest about the size of your picture. They were spread out about 1/2 mile apart from the most easterly one to the most westerly one. All heading north. I made a big loop that day and found the same tracks in the same order. Still heading north. 1 1/2 miles north of where I crossed them the first time. Still spread out. I believe they were on the hunt!
All I could think was how methodical they appeared!

Yep, an adult wolf would be nearly the size of your glove.

Re: track
I found these set of tracks out in a public marsh two years ago here in west central WI. Not sure if wolf or some random mutt.
The cave you fear hides the treasure you seek!!!
