Is there such a thing as overkill?

Unread postby backstraps » Thu Jan 03, 2013 2:23 pm

If you guys were crawling with coyotes....and you decided to declare war, would there be such a thing as predator overkill on an animal ?!?!

Image

This little guy was introduced to a big, big gun. This is the picture as he was when he was walked upon.
I didnt know how you guys would feel about a graphic overkill picture of what the exit looked like! I will post unless someone would be easily offended by a graphic pic

Never a concern with the size of the gun with a coyote........can never kill them to dead.

You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Man, when you said big, big gun. Thought maybe a 460 nitro express, or maybe 416 rigby or something close.

I'd say youve got a valid argument for using a bigger gun. Although its gorier, if your goal is to kill the animal then bigger hole roughly equals faster kill equals more ethical. Nice Shot!!

Cool! I personally would use my deer rifle (in my case a 30-06) just to get practice with it. I don't care how big the hole is.

I have always wanted to shoot one with a Barret 50 cal from 3-400 yards to see whats left!

I have used the S&W 500 mag and an H&K 416 on them before. I just dont like shooting hand canons!

That reminds me of a pic I have of my daughter holding both of these guns at once! She thought she was
billy the kid of something  I need to find that pic...
