Wolf Forum?!

Unread postby Mike.E » Tue Jun 19, 2012 9:30 am

Hopefully if all goes as planned here in WI, we should get a Wold Hunting Forum together! I am hoping to apply to get a tag. Who else is planning on getting a wolf tag?

I might put in for one if the cost is reasonable.

I will put in only if cost is $25 or less. This should not be a DNR money making scheme. I would only be hunting them incidently while scouting or deer hunting so success odds very low. Best way to get one would be trapping which I know nothing about..

I don't really have any problems with wolves in the areas I hunt in northern WI so I probably won't buy a tag. The only way I would shoot one if I did have a tag is if one happened to come past while on stand or while I was walking in woods. I wouldn't specifically seek them if it would take away from time I would normally be hunting deer.

Now if we could hunt them in the offseason.........that would be a different story! I would be all for it after late bow season.

That's how i feel too, i feel more confident in trapping them. I have never seen one while hunting, and wolves are think by our cabin south of Superior. They are smart!

I know a trapper up north that has trapped the area since he was a kid and knows where their denning. Hopefully if a butter him up, hew can help me get on them. I will likely be chasing them during gun season because i don't care much for gun hunting deer, but that's if i get a tag. We'll see!
