Coyote Decoy

Unread postby jshawk13 » Thu Feb 09, 2012 6:02 am

Anyone ever tried using a decoy while calling. I'm thinking about purchasing the mojo critter decoy but would like some feedback before I spend the money.

I currently use a mojo critter decoy. I have found the ones with the "feathers" on the end work best and give the best action. The lifesize rabbit ones do not move enough to get as much attention. I also use a montana coyote decoy to get the coyotes attention prior to seeing the critter.

I've been thinking about this myself... I have one of the life size rabbit deaks that moves but I think it sucks... What I was thinking would be an awsome decoy would be an actual dead bird (not sure that's legal) with the feathers ruffled up and also tie a few feathers with some fishing line either on a bush or stick of some sort right next to and a foot or two above the bird... I think that would be very realistic and tempting to a yote

I always heard on dirt or ground with low crass a weasel ball with some fabric sewn on it with a long tail and feathers was the cats meow. Never tried it myself, I suppose it would work real well on crusty snow that could support its weight. Maybe a guy could drape it from a tree with fishing line too??

I found these on youtube, might be just as good as the mojo and certainly cheaper!

I have used decoys, the weasle ball with a coon tail and the rigor rabbit and was not impressed. What I use at most sets is a duck feather with a piece of string with an alligator clip tied to one end. I just clip the feather to a tree or bush. It flips and spins in the slightest breeze and catches the approaching animals attention. It is light, easy to carry, quick and simple to set up and uses no batteries. Works for me.
